Jul 29, 2007 Quickie Link: Hongkong Center for Gay Community Fighting AIDS

(China) - Hong Kong's first government-aided community service center for homosexuals has begun operation with the aim of curbing the spread of AIDS among the gay community. "No More Denial! AIDS is our Business" is the motto of the center's founder, Rainbow of Hong Kong - a group advocating equal job opportunities and sex education for the grassroots society. With subsidy from the government's AIDS Trust Fund, the center said the coming year would test its effectiveness in guiding and sheltering homosexuals in the fight against discrimination and AIDS. A survey entitled "The Needs of Hong Kong's Gay Community," conducted by Rainbow of Hong Kong last week showed that although more than 90 percent of the 314 respondents felt they had adequate understanding of AIDS and safe sex, 36 percent were not sure if they had contracted HIV.
