(London, UK) - Hundreds of religious fundamentalists have staged a torchlit protest against new laws designed to give added protection to lesbians and gays against discrimination. The mob of mainly fundamentalist Christians packed into a tiny square opposite the Houses of Parliament to demonstrate over the Sexual Orientation Regulations (SORs).
The new laws are designed to prevent businesses discriminating against Gays in the provision of goods and services. But the religious fundamentalistss claimed the new laws would stop religious people from making decisions based on their conscience or faith.

Demonstrators, including many families with children, sang hymns, held placards and shouted slogans during the mainly peaceful vigil.

Meanwhile, a number of Gay Christians formed a small counter-protest nearby, with some engaging members of the main demonstration in heated discussion.
