(UK) - A leading UK Labour MEP has today called on Conservative leader David Cameron to denounce his party’s MEPs who today “heckled and shouted like hooligans” during ceremonies to proclaim the European Charter of Fundamental Rights in the European Parliament. The Charter gives rights to citizens of member states of the European Unions – and includes rights for the EU gay, lesbian and transgender communities. Michael Cashman described the actions of those UK Conservative MEPs as “a national scandal”. They joined the far-right UKIP members, fascists and communists in trying to shout-down the presidents of the European Parliament, the European Council and the European Commission during the ceremonies earlier today.
