A FTM transexual is still too much of a She for the liking of Sharia court types in Kuala Lumpur.

Asia-Pacific News:

Quote:
An Islamic marriage court may force a Malaysian couple to separate if the husband is found to have undergone a sex-change operation, reports said Tuesday.

[...]

...[R]eligious officials from the southern Malacca state refused to register the marriage after they claimed that the groom was in fact formerly a woman....

The couple, who arrived at the court Monday holding hands, was charged under the state Islamic family enactment which forbids same-sex marriages.

If found guilty their marriage will be annulled and they will be forced to separate.

IHT:

Quote:
[The groom's] birth certificate bore a woman's name... [and] it is not clear [whether he] is a transvestite or has had a sex change operation.

It was [also] not clear whether the couple also faced fines or other punishment apart from the marriage annulment.

[...]

In 2005, the government declared a same-sex marriage between an ethnic Chinese transsexual — still legally a man — and her accountant boyfriend invalid.

Interesting indeed that the Sharia courts have similar problems with such goings-on as do the organizers of the Michigan Womyn's Music Festival and the fine gals at Vancouver Rape Relief.

[Hee hee, now there's one I bet you're not going to re-post at EM, Berts.]
