The dykes had dared to dance in a Long Island straight bar and were subsequently asked to leave by the bar's manager for their inappropriate behavior because it upsetting the bar's straight customers. And boy oh boy, talk about upset!

About 10 to 12 young men and women, including several under-aged teens, followed the lesbians out of the bar and began screaming anti-gay epithets, spitting on the lesbians and then beating them.

The local police have said they are investigating, but have declined to provide details of the incident.

Matthew W. Walli was in a group of about 12 people involved in a confrontation with chef Josie Smith-Malave, who is a lesbian, and three other women who had just been thrown out of the bar over Labor Day weekend, Nassau County police said Thursday.

Walli, 20, was arrested Wednesday afternoon. He was charged with robbery as a bias crime, which is punishable by as many as 15 years in prison upon conviction, and was to be arraigned Thursday, police said.

Angie Potter was enjoying her stay at the Tawas Bay Beach Resort during a women’s softball tournament the weekend of September 7. That is, until an anti-lesbian thug who was also staying at the hotel grabbed her throat, leaving marks, while Angie was trying to enjoy her evening.

The hotel didn’t even call the police; Angie’s friend had to do that nearly an hour after the attack. When Angie found out her attacker was still staying at the hotel and asked the hotel management to do something to help her feel safe, Angie was told that she should leave.
