Quebec gay couple to get $10,000 for being harassed

MONTREAL (CP) - A Quebec human rights group has ordered that a gay couple be awarded $10,000 for being harassed by young people in their neighbourhood.
Theo Wouters and Roger Thibault said four youths targeted them because of their sexual orientation.
The Quebec Human Rights and Youth Rights Commission says the parents of one of the youths must pay the two men $10,000.
A little help here from the Canadians -- $10 grand is a lot, a little? Ninety-three hundred dollars (US) is not quite in the ball park for such things here... but then the US is infamously litigious.
Seems the other three youths are no longer in Quebec, so no longer of interest to the Commission. Presumably at least one other family would have gotten a bill from the province as well. |
