News: NM Gay Retirement Village to Go Straight?

(Santa Fe, NM) - Residents at what has been billed as a premier destination for retired gays and lesbians are wondering aloud whether RainbowVision is trying to shed its gay image. ...Last week, the rainbow flag -- a symbol of the gay community -- that flew above the community on Rodeo Road was taken down. ..."Finally we thought there was a place where we could come and we wouldn't have to apologize about being gay,'' said one resident who did not want to be identified. ``Now it's like RainbowVision is going back into the closet.''
Some residents believe the community has slightly changed the tone of its local marketing to include more photographs of straight couples. They think the community is under pressure to rent many units on the property that sit empty.
