Feb 01, 2007 News: Latvian Gay Group Looking for Birthday Presents
By vanrozenheim

(Riga, Latvia) - February will mark the first birthday of Mozaika, an alliance of LGBT people and their friends in Latvia. And the group is asking for donations of books, magazines, videos/DVDs on sexuality and gender issues to help build up its ‘resource centre’ and library – a birthday present.

Mozaika recently found a office space and is now are building a small community centre so LGBT people and their friends and supporters in Latvia can gather and discuss various issues related to our struggle for legal equality and social justice.

One of the purposes of the Mozaika’s resource centre is to educate and to inform.

“We only can make progress and advance our rights and acceptance if the community is well informed and educated,” said a Mozaika spokesperson.

“That is why we are sending this appeal to help our library. We are looking for books, magazines, brochures, leaflets, video/DVDs, posters etc on sexuality/gender identity.

Needless to say we are interested in all variety of aspects be it legal, psychological, medial or religious.”

Mozaika is a very ‘rich’ organisation in relation to the number of languages we speak.

“That is why we welcome materials in all major European languages, but please do not feel excluded if you want to help and your book or poster is not in one of the major languages, we still want to hear from you as we want to be enriched and inspired by various experiences,” the spokesperson added.

If you have any items you can donate to the library, please send them to:

Mozaika,
Gertrudes iela 19/21 – 5
Riga LV-1011
LATVIA
