Fifteen years have passed since Tony Kushner completed Angels in America, his devastating, Pulitzer prize-winning epic about the Aids explosion of the 1980s. The world may have progressed from regarding Aids as a gay plague, but many of the other complex issues raised – racism, homophobia, drug addiction and religious oppression – are as pertinent as ever.
